Our neighbourhoods

Strong and vibrant communities

We recognise that people make a place. We will work alongside local communities to build stronger neighbourhoods and tackle the issues that affect them, with a focus on community safety and worklessness.

Our priorities are:

  • To work with existing and new resident groups, involving more and more people in our neighbourhoods to tackle the issues that matter to them.
  • To work with partner organisations to build skills and confidence by providing training opportunities, improving the life chances of young people from our communities
  • To use our own capacity and that of our contractors and partners to maximise employment opportunities for young people living on our estates, so breaking the cycle of worklessness
  • To support local communities in developing preventative and enforcement approaches to tackle crime and nuisance on their estates, working with partner organisations and using our own enforcement powers.

Green and clean neighbourhoods

Our residents have told us they would like us to do more to make our estates cleaner and greener. This means encouraging communities to take a pride in their environment, supporting them to increase recycling, improving the standard of environmental services and working with partners to tackle problem areas.

Our priorities are:

  • To improve the standard of environmental services on our estates.
  • To work with partners and communities to deliver better recycling facilities on estates.
  • To tackle environmental problems that impact on places such as land and buildings which are unused, in poor condition, or where there is lack of community facilities and green space.
