Grot Spot Gets the Boot

While many of us nervously watched England last Wednesday, some of our staff were tackling an issue of a different kind.

Helena's neighbourhood officers teamed up with re:new environmental wardens, estate caretakers, and the Green Spaces Team to tidy up a local derelict site in the Duke Street area.

The strip of land behind Roper Street was kicked into touch as the group cut back overgrown shrubs, cleared fly-tipping and repaired the fencing, which was mottled from years of graffiti removal.

And as a final flourish the Green Spaces Team trimmed and litter picked a nearby demolition site on Park Road - one of the main routes into St Helens.

Neighbourhood Officer, Maureen Wilson, organised the clean-up event. She said: "Everyone worked so hard today - it was a fantastic team effort. We are really pleased with the difference we have made to this area - and so are our residents, who complimented us on how much better it looks, as they passed by."
